Stephen Muers joined Big Society Capital in 2016 as head of strategy and market development and stepped in as interim CEO in May 2020. His appointment as CEO was confirmed in April 2021.

Stephen was previously director of criminal justice policy at the Ministry of Justice, and has held senior roles across many government departments. He is a trustee of the Friends Provident Foundation.
